About Us
Sevenoaks Sings is a proud and passionate not-for-profit community choir that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. Run by our members, we hold a really warm and friendly place that has true community spirit in its heart – we are as much about building beautiful friendships as beautiful harmonies.
Musical Director Philly Lopez is the dynamic powerhouse who brings energy and vitality to the choir’s rehearsals and repertoire. Philly has a string of professional credits to her name, and has worked with some of the best in the business. Our repertoire includes contemporary pop and rock, folk, soul and Gospel.
With no sight reading or auditions, all you need is a love of singing. Our musical director Philly, teaches by rote; repetition and practice makes perfect, so whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced performer or something in between, you are very welcome here! Once you’re part of our community we’ll provide access to training tracks, so you can practise at home. Philly writes bespoke arrangements for us, to suit the range of voices in the choir, so whilst a song may be familiar, it may also come with a twist!
Some of the songs in our repertoire in recent years include:
- Somebody to Love (Queen)
- One Day Like This (Elbow)
- Let the River Run (Carly Simon)
- Viva La Vida (Coldplay)
- September (Earth, Wind and Fire)
- You can Call Me Al (Paul Simon)
- Revival (Gregory Porter)
- God Only Knows (Beach Boys/ Pentatonix)
- And songs from musicals RENT, The Greatest Showman and Les Mis.
