I have always loved singing. As a child, I was obsessed with the TV show \u2018Stars in their Eyes\u2019. I loved the idea of getting dressed up and singing my favourite song: \u201cI Can See Clearly Now\u201d. Looking back, my 9 year old self was just too young, too white and too female to be a convincing Johnny Nash!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without the TV studio, I had to make do with the church choir, which in the small parish in rural Somerset was full of old warbling ladies who disapproved of my mischievous shenanigans. I didn\u2019t really belong there. As a teenager I was into grunge music and was even in a rock band for a short time. My voice didn\u2019t really belong there either, I couldn\u2019t sing as low as my bandmates wanted and honestly, I was pretty terrified just being on stage and would mostly stand with my back to the audience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Sevenoaks Sings I have finally found my fit! Being part of a choir is a joyful thing, but this particular choir is really special to me. Since we were given the chance to run the choir ourselves, I haven\u2019t looked back. We have grown so much, in number and musicality, and I am so proud to be part of the team that makes it happen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sense of community and friendship within the choir is incredible, and I value the social life of the choir and the shared experiences it brings us. Thanks to our Choir Leader Philly\u2019s expertise and direction, I\u2019m finally nurturing the voice I\u2019ve always wanted to let out.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
